The Governors play a vital role in the effective management of the school.
They fulfil a largely strategic role by:
Setting the aims and objectives for the school;
Adopting policies for achieving those aims and objectives;
Setting targets for achieving those aims and objectives.
They challenge and support the school to do better, acting as a 'critical friend' and offering constructive advice. The headteacher has responsibility for the internal organisation, management and control of the school and for the implementation of the strategic framework established by the Governing Body.
The instrument of government for Heacham Junior School states that the governing body shall consist of:

3 staff governors
3 community governors
4 partnership governors
